FileAve.com is a free file host and web host which gives users 50 MB file storage space on free hosting accounts, and 150 MB bandwidth/day (about 4.5 GB/month). That is the daily data transfer for external linking (file downloads by others), but all users have unlimited access to their own files through the control panel. You can host 50 MB of your videos, music clips, Flash animations, WAV files, and images for use anywhere, such as LiveJournal, eBay auction listings, MySpace, Xanga, photographers, sharing your files, homework, and more. All file types are permitted, but no scripting is allowed. The HTML codes are automatically generated for embedding music/videos/images on webpages -- hotlinking (direct linking/ external linking) files is allowed. Once you have uploaded a song, music, or video file, you can use the "Get Codes" link to generate EMBED tags that can be used on other websites to play the music/video file. The filehosting account includes a free subdomain, such as yourname.fileave.com, in which you can make a free home page. You can create your own folders/directories to organize your files, or just upload files into the root folder. FileAve.com is a sister site to Ripway.com (owned and operated by Ripside Interactive, a free web hosting company since 1999), and their dedicated webhosting servers are located in a highly secure datacenter, with redundant storage, multiple connections to the internet, and a large cluster of web servers to maintain hosting reliability. Account creation is instant (registration required). Freehosting accounts that are inactive for more than 60 days (2 months) will be removed from the webservers, but their TOS reccommends to log in to your account at least once a month to keep it active. Accounts can have paid upgrades to increase the file storagespace and daily data transfer limits.

Their servers are extremely reliable and do not cause much problems. Keep it up. You have been a favorite, but I would love the auto-generate thumbnails back though, pretty please.

I have enjoyed using this site, but I do have a few suggestions.
1. allow more than 6 files to be uploaded at a time. I have had to upload up to 40 files at times.
2. as well, speed up the upload process. it is quite a lengthy process currently.
3. allow for the purchase of additional bandwidth beyond the maximum of 150 gb a month, or create another package with more bandwidth and storage.
4. be more specific about file sizes that can be uploaded. I have a paid account, and larger file uploads are very iffy. I am never sure what will not work. sometimes they do not work at all and sometimes you have to try 2 or 3 times before the upload works. And whether the upload works or not, you still have to wait quite a while before you know that it is not going to work. It is most annoying. Just state the maximum file size on your web page. Right now, it reads "Paid accounts can upload larger files". How large? Just state the maximum size.
4. Customer service: I have had mixed results. Sometimes they get right back to you and other times your question remains unanswered. My first time, my problem was resolved, but my email was never acknowledged. I did not know if they were attending to my problem or not. They did, but it is always comforting to know that they got your email. The second time I was told they would look into it. But that was the last I heard, and it has been months now.
Now, some of the things I really like.
1. The look. It is very attractively presented and has well organized pages. The blue bold font used for the uploaded files is very easy to read.
2. Folders - it is great that we have total control over creation of folders. It is very easy to use. Alphabetical organization is great too. Movement of files between folders or file deletion are easy too.
3. Easy access and use of uploaded files.
4. The reporting of bandwidth usage and estimate of days remaining are very good.
All in all, I like this program a lot. With a few improvements, it could be the best free file hoster site. I would recommend it to others.

Pretty close to excellent. It has been years since I have done FTP uploading, and I have forgotten how easy it is to organize files this way. Thank you for adding FTP ability! Instead of nags, you have a membership you can purchase for increased storage/bandwidth. If you decide not, you still get quite a bit, and anyone who uses up that much storage space for a free account is serious about their image archives! Very well done! 10 out of 10 stars rating.

It is very great web hosting and very fast upload for a free web hosting server. I really love it. I think it is the best. I rate it 100% although the space for storage is small but anything; everything else is great.

Good free high quality webhosting for files, with a lot of bandwidth allowed, but forcing login every 30 days is complicated. Sometimes I nearly forgot it.

For me everything works perfectly, and I am very happy with FileAve. I feel confident to say that this is the best free image hosting service that I have ever had. Well, after using FileAve for quite a long time now, I can say that I would not hesitate on recommending its services to my friends.
