Description: |
"File Xoom" provides free file hosting and image hosting services, hosted on a network of several high performance Pentium 4, Linux servers. You get 2 GB (2048 MB) of file storage space, 100 mb file sizes, and 5 GB per month bandwidth. Files are kept on the server indefinitely. You can upload several files at a time, and there is a batch uploading files feature (via a ZIP file) available if you want to upload several files at once (by uploading a single Zip archive of your files) instead of selecting each file name separately. You must check the "Extract Zip files" option on their upload form for the uploader to extract all the files inside the Zip file you upload (or else it will be hosted as a single ZIP file). You can use this free filehosting service for uploading and hosting mp3 files, videos, audios, pictures, Flash, text files, and more -- the uploader accepts all file types except for a few such as php, html, xml, asp, and exe. Direct linking (hot-linking) the hosted files is allowed. Free sign-up is required (the "Public Uploading" uploader is currently disabled). The free file sharing service is powered by the mysql version of Uploader v6.2 CeleronDude script.

FileXoom is absolutely useless! I tried uploading files several times, and while the upload process took a significantly long time, none of my file were there when it finished. It was also impossible to contact tech support: the "admin" address that they specify does not exist! Registering with File Xoom was a total waste of time. Also their browse publically uploaded files shows lots of "adult" trash.

Great site. It has lots of new updates and features that make this site now the best free file hosting site on the Internet. I was very happy with their responses, and they have even set up a forum for everyone to chat to sort out any problems.

I have been using File Xoom now for the last 6 months and have found them to be very helpful, and with the new features that they are adding, this site has to be one of the best on the Net. Well done! I look forward to the new updates coming. Keep up the great work.

When I first started using File Xoom a few months ago, everything was fine. I was able to access all my files if I wanted to. Lately it does not allow me to see any of my files beyond the latest page. I have about 80 files on FileXoom and can only see 20 of them! I have recently lost the links from my website and can no longer find the original files on Xoom. I too have sent the administrators PM's about this, but to no avail. This is the most frustrating aspect of FileXoom: that you cannot access your files beyond the first page (whereas a few months ago, you were), and there is no tech help available. And I have also experienced those annoying CHMOD errors (although to be fair, they seem to have fixed it). I am reluctant to give it a high rating because of these technical issues. When working properly, it is a fine free file hosting service. If they can get it sorted out, I may give them the higher rating I would have when I first started with them. But because of the tech problems and the lack of communication with the administrators, a mediocre rating is what I am giving them.

Okay. I'd like to ammend my previous rating and commentary: It turns out that the problems I have been having are a (temporary, according to the admins) glitch with Firefox. They say they are currently trying to fix it and suggested I use IE in the meantime. Not a major hassle at all for me. Therefore I am giving FileXoom an ammened 8 out of 10 rating (previously rated 5). I find the 2 Gig limit more than enough for hosting my files (I currently have a hundred, now that I have uploaded another 20 since my previous posting here), and I have barely used a quarter of my max storage space. Sure the bandwidth could be higher, but it is a small price to "pay" for a free hosting service. Which brings up the reason I am not giving it a perfect score. There are way too many advertisements and solicitations thereof that clutter up the web pages. Although this is a consequence of hosting a free site, if they can somehow reconfigure the webpages to make them more visually attractive the ads not so intrusive, my rating score would be higher. Overall, it is a good service. (And yes, the admins did indeed reply to my message!)

It only has 5 gb of bandwidth now (no more unlimited bandwidth), and is terribly slow!

I did not like when they changed their UI, but I sent em an email, and they fixed it pronto, so I am happily uploading again. Do not change again. I depend on your freefilesharing services! Thanks for such a great idea. I am really impressed, and no other service lets me upload my files as easy. The server is fast and can host every single file type that any common person would ever need.

When I registered I had UNLIMITED bandwidth, but within a week the bandwidth was limited to 20 GB.

I do not recommend to anyone. When (it is rare) I upload I file and you hot link to it, you are told file does not exit. You try to check the file, then you get the CHMOD error junk. They do not have a forum to complain on. I have sent the admin several PM's with no response. I gave up on the place, and they should too, and pull the plug on it.
The URL of my hosted file gives this error in the browser:
"mySQL: Host '66.228.125.109' is blocked because of many connection errors; unblock with 'mysqladmin flush-hosts' on line 5 in /home/filexoom/public_html/includes/mysql.class.php"

File Xoom is definitely the best file server availiable on the internet. I have had only one problem with the layout, and a quick email to the administrator cleaned it right up. No kidding; he responded in like 8 minutes! Great web site with 2Gigs per account and UNLIMITED bandwidth. You just can not find better for a free filesharing server.
