Out of the 12 free webhosting services I've tried, I've found 50webs to be the fastest & most reliable. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to host a personal/business webpage.
Pros:
FTP uploading (Very fast!!)
Fast & reliable Linux servers
60MB of storage
Domain & Subdomain creation facility
Good 24x7 support.
Cons:
300KB file size limit (300KB!! That's right!!)
Minor glitch encountered while trying to upload then delete a file with an apostrophie in the filename (eg: student's).

50 webs is great, no ads, great features like creating sub domains, mail like anything@yourdomain.com. Just buy a domain name and host it here for free.

I just bought my .com with the namesevers of 50webs, yet it says its not active yet, but it will be soon hopefully.
Apart from that 50 webs has been pretty great. thanks 50webs.com
