Description: |
Photo Bucket is a free image hosting company for ebay, online auctions, classifieds, message boards, blogs, live journals, and online photo albums. You can easily upload, categorize, add titles and delete images as needed. Direct linking is allowed, and there are tutorials for directlinking images on eBay auctions, MySpace, and Xanga. You can upload up to 20 pictures at once. Photos larger than 1 MB are automatically scaled down. Their BucketStamp is a dynamic imaging tool for you to share multiple images in a single link combined with some interesting animation, a form of photo gallery for your pictures. Limitations: 1 GB storage space; 25 GB/month bandwidth; 1MB (1024KB) file size limit; Extensions allowed: .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .swf (Flash files); Images must not contain any weird characters (numbers and letters only). The uploader converts bmp and tif to jpg. You can view the most recently uploaded pictures. Users in the UK have the ability to take any of their images or photos and publish to their mobile phone. You can optionally upload images via a regular email address. Also now features free video hosting -- users can upload, share, and publish video clips free up to 3 minutes long and 100 MB filesize (5 minutes in length if you are a premium user). Now serves over 500 million images a day. Photobucket has partnered with FilmLoop to make it easy for users to instantly create their own photo "loops" from existing image albums by simply clicking on the "Loop It!" button/icon in their photoalbum. FilmLoop is a free photo broadcasting ("photocasting") network/application that lets you broadcast photo "loops" to all your friends and family, displaying the photos in a "loop" on your computer.

Warning: there are a LOT of inapropriate pictures on simple photo seaches (i.e. I typed in "easter bunny", and it came up with QUITE a few inapropriate pictures).

When you sign up for an image album, go right to the forum and make an account there. I know it is stupid not to have your ID there the same as your account. You have to sign up for the forum separately, but it is worth it because Photobucket is kind of a hard program to use, but the forum will teach you how to use it right. They are very kind there, and there are TONS OF great tips. I have used the forum a lot!

This free photohosting site is not as good as it used to be. It is slower, and a lot of useless junk keeps getting put onto your photo page. The customer service is the pits because they send automated responses - no help. They do have a forum where you can go and get help, and at least the people there know what they are talking about. The helpers there know a lot about Myspace and Blogger too, so they can help with a lot of web sites. Just go there for help and do not bother sending an email.

This is the best image host. They offer a huge variety of image slideshows, and do not discourage direct linking like Flickr does. They have very helpful forums and customer support. If you have a problem, they help you very quickly. I love the slideshows!

I have a Photobucket Pro account, which is their premiere paid account for hosting my business photos of items I sell on Ebay auctions. I would NOT recommend this picture hosting site to anyone wanting to sell on Ebay or for any business use. Photobucket seems best suited for someone who uses it as a hobby to host their Myspace photos or someone who wants a site where Grandma can look at little grandson's newest photos. It is not built for paying customers who need it for business. PROS: nice resizing format and choices, which is a brand new feature. CONS: no one home at Photobucket. By that I mean that when you have a problem, you wait (AND wait some more) for an EMAIL response from their customer service department. No telephone support is available. All contact is by email and at their leasure. "Best time is hopefully within 24 hours". Photobucket routinely makes major software revisions unannounced. One day you log in and nothing looks like it did the day before. The format and/or layout is completely different. Constantly changing formats, photo sizes, software revisions, page layout changes, etc. One unannounced major format change coincided with Ebay doing the same thing and rolling out a new selling form. It was chaos, like working in the "Twilight Zone" all that was missing was Rod Serling walking out. There is no notice of server down times, which happen frequently too. You may need to do listings on Ebay and go to Photobucket to load photos and find a "sorry we are down and working on the problem sign". There is no notice when it comes back up either. It is your responsibility to check back. Then check back some more, and then again. Would I recommend Photobucket? Only under limited circumstances if you do not need reliability and you plan to be a recreational user only. Price is good if you use the FREE hosting account. I definitely would never pay for their service if I had to do it over.

I have used many free photos hosting sites in the past (webshots and filelodge, to name a couple), and this is the BEST free photo hoster site! Their dedicated servers are fast, reliable, and I love the uploaded photos browsing experience.

It is slow, and images get deleted after a while. On the other hand, you can organize your pictures into albums. But other free hosts let you do that, too.

When I uploaded an animated gif "video", it turned my .gif file to one I did not recognize, and I can not upload .ani files, yet I love it because it is easy and I will not get yelled at for an extra $5.00 on the bill.

I have used PhotoBucket for over two years now and I have never had any downtime. the service and products are nothing but the best! I have tried other free imaging services, and PhotoBucket is the best by far. it is very fast and very easy to understand (thats is my fave), and all of the services are up-to-date. I would and I have recommended PhotoBucket to all my friends and family!
A very satisfied client. Thank you, PhotoBucket.
