Description: |
Photo Bucket is a free image hosting company for ebay, online auctions, classifieds, message boards, blogs, live journals, and online photo albums. You can easily upload, categorize, add titles and delete images as needed. Direct linking is allowed, and there are tutorials for directlinking images on eBay auctions, MySpace, and Xanga. You can upload up to 20 pictures at once. Photos larger than 1 MB are automatically scaled down. Their BucketStamp is a dynamic imaging tool for you to share multiple images in a single link combined with some interesting animation, a form of photo gallery for your pictures. Limitations: 1 GB storage space; 25 GB/month bandwidth; 1MB (1024KB) file size limit; Extensions allowed: .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .swf (Flash files); Images must not contain any weird characters (numbers and letters only). The uploader converts bmp and tif to jpg. You can view the most recently uploaded pictures. Users in the UK have the ability to take any of their images or photos and publish to their mobile phone. You can optionally upload images via a regular email address. Also now features free video hosting -- users can upload, share, and publish video clips free up to 3 minutes long and 100 MB filesize (5 minutes in length if you are a premium user). Now serves over 500 million images a day. Photobucket has partnered with FilmLoop to make it easy for users to instantly create their own photo "loops" from existing image albums by simply clicking on the "Loop It!" button/icon in their photoalbum. FilmLoop is a free photo broadcasting ("photocasting") network/application that lets you broadcast photo "loops" to all your friends and family, displaying the photos in a "loop" on your computer.

There is a lot more at Photobucket now than there used to be. They have slideshows that are all about the latest movies, and they have a remix thingy that you can make your own movies and music. There are forums where you can hang out and learn stuff. Photobucket is it!

I love it. I am on Photobucket every day. There is so much you can do with your stuff. It is the best tool on the Internet, and it costs nothing. There is a huge selection of images you can use if you do not have your own, and there is a forum for helping you.

This is the best free image host ever because it is very fast and easy to use. It also has "bucket" sites, which are useful too. BTW, there is a change with the listing: they give 25 gbs of bandwidth per month (on mine there is, and I am not a pro user; their upgrade page still lists it as 10 Gb monthly in their comparison chart though). 10/10!

I am very satisfied with their hit counter, like to know the total hit amount, not just monthly. I recommend it to all pros, and have used it for about 2 and a half months now, with over 340,000 hits total, or 100,000 per month steadily. The free hosting is reliable as long as you have fast bandwidth for those 1024 X 768 speed multi downloads. It has fast image downloads, but is slow uploading large picture files (downloading is faster due to them downscaling image sizes). The website is easy to use and has good support features. Good job, Photobucket, and keep it up.

Photobucket deleted our complete set of images without any notice, and without properly answering our complaints. We just received an email announcing their decision. We lost a full month of pictures, some unrecoverable, causing a severe loss to our site, a non-profit organization. Our site NEVER posted any unpropper images or videos. I think it is very dangerous to trust them for hosting your pictures.

I would not recommend this host to anyone with anything even remotely important to do with their pictures. I used (emphasis on the past tense) this service to host images to teach art. My images were removed - images COMPLETE WITH NOTES AND DIAGRAMS. They were quite obviously used for art instruction and came from figure drawing models. Who gets to draw the line between art, "adult" images, and education? They even removed some of my diagrams that I drew myself. Of course, I do not find out about this until a student complains. Yes, at one point, I had a paid account. There is no customer service to speak of. This contact person seems fictional, seeing as there is no way to contact them besides a feedback form that they do not respond to. I am glad I do not pay for this service anymore, and even if I never paid for it, I would want my money back.

Lately this service has gone downhill with a vengeance. Moving around within photo albums has become agonizingly slow, and even paid accounts are being deleted without warning for alleged violations of "Terms Of Service", even when there are no such violations. Avoid like the plague, or if you must, use only the free service.

I love Photobucket.com. I upload all of my pictures onto there. It makes it easy to send friends edited or non-edited photos as comments and such. Photobucket is awesome!

They will cancel your account with no explanation! All that is needed is ONE unsubstantiated baseless complaint, and your PAYING account will vanish without a trace!

I agree with a comment that was written below. One should immediately sign up for the forum after registration for this site. Photobucket has a terrible habit of reworking its entire interface on a frequent but never announced basis. You will likely want to ask questions. The Photobucket forum is the best place to do it. It would seem that the forum people know what is going on inside the company. They are either employees or are trusted with the pertinent information. Photobucket is a mostly reliable host. I have used the free image hosting service for at least two years, and I have rarely had any problems. There is a lot of extra impediments being added that detracts from what used to be a well-oiled machine. At a time when the average face of Webbies is between 35 and 45, it is a shame that they seem to want to cater to the under-18 market. I would urge all users with an education and more reason to use their service other than to post blinkies on Myspace to contact them directly and ask for better services.
